I built Virtual Text Tools in 2026 out of a frustration I'd had for years. Every time I needed to count words, clean up a list, encode a URL, or convert a number to written text — I'd search online and land on a site that either wanted my email address, capped my usage at 500 words, or was so cluttered with ads that finding the actual tool took longer than just doing it manually.

The premise behind Virtual Text Tools is simple: these utilities should work like a calculator. You open it, you use it, you close it. No account. No data collected. No server seeing your text. Everything runs locally in your browser because that's the only way I could feel comfortable using a tool like this with client work or sensitive documents — and I figured other people felt the same way.

What started as a handful of tools I personally needed has grown to 17 utilities covering the most common text and image tasks I encountered in my own work. Every tool on this site is something I've used myself. I add new ones when I keep hitting the same problem and can't find a free, private solution that doesn't require signing up.
